Review of Education
Review of Education is an international peer reviewed journal for the publication of major and substantial articles of interest to researchers in education. It is a growing focal point for the publication of educational research from throughout the world, and on topics of international interest. It is one of the journals in the major portfolio of publications produced by the British Educational Research Association.
The Journal specialises in publishing substantial papers (8,000–20,000 words) in order to give authors the opportunity to describe major projects or ideas more fully than would otherwise be possible. The editors may occasionally accept briefer articles of special interest, or which relate to material previously published in the journal. Review of Education is interdisciplinary in approach, and publishes the results of major studies and in‐depth reviews that are significant, wide‐ranging and insightful, and have a genuinely international reach and orientation. Covering all tiers and types of education, it publishes papers of the highest quality, including but not limited to reports of major studies, substantial research syntheses, original state-of-the-art reviews, literature reviews, systematic reviews, negative findings, replication and confirmatory studies.
The journal has particular success in publishing:
reports of major studies, including detailed discussion of interim and final findings of major research projects (a substantial part of each article should put the study into the context of its field; the design and methodology should also be explained, and any limitations discussed)
substantial research syntheses, critically integrating results from empirical studies using any designs and methods, or combination of designs and methods (such syntheses may include systematic reviews of studies relevant to particular research questions, thematic narrative reviews, or meta-analyses)
original state-of-the-art reviews that assess the state of knowledge in a field of education research (thematic, historical, conceptual or theoretical reviews of cutting-edge fields of research and reviews that connect creatively different fields of research are especially welcome).
Conceptual or theoretical pieces are also welcomed, provided that they are clear, logical, appropriately critical and of wide interest.
A priority for the journal is highlighting the significance and clear practical implications of all papers to assist authors to achieve impact, particularly through ‘context and implications’ summaries that accompany articles’ abstracts. The editors are committed to author experience and development, and to fast article turnarounds and reviews in particular.
The editors have provided the following criteria to assist authors with preparing their submissions:
Length
Have the guidelines on length (normally 8,000–20,000 words) been adhered to?
Writing
Is the writing clear, cogent and readily understandable by an international readership?
Scope
Is the article of sufficient general interest to the educational research community in terms of the focus or contribution to knowledge and understanding of the area concerned or research methods and methodology or the implications of the conclusions drawn? (A specialist focus need not exclude an article if it makes a general contribution to method or raises issues that link to questions that are of interest to the wider community).
Review of Education is free to publish in, and we would be happy to receive a paper from the conference through the usual channels.

The Journal of Educational Research
The Journal of Educational Research is a well-known and respected periodical that reaches an international audience of educators and others concerned with cutting-edge theories and proposals. For more than 100 years, the journal has contributed to the advancement of educational practice in elementary and secondary schools by judicious study of the latest trends, examination of new procedures, evaluation of traditional practices, and replication of previous research for validation. The journal is an invaluable resource for teachers, counselors, supervisors, administrators, curriculum planners, and educational researchers as they consider the structure of tomorrow’s curricula. Special issues examine major education issues in depth. Topics of recent themes include methodology, motivation, and literacy.
The Journal of Educational Research publishes manuscripts that describe or synthesize research of direct relevance to educational practice in elementary and secondary schools, pre-K–12. Special consideration is given to articles that focus on variables that can be manipulated in educational settings. Although the JER does not publish validation studies, the Editors welcome many varieties of research–experiments, evaluations, ethnographies, narrative research, replications, and so forth.
